Pilgrimage:

Lourdes Pilgrimage July 2011

 

This July the Moone pilgrimage to Lourdes took place from the 18th to 22nd of July. Everyone was up very early on the Sunday morning to get to the airport for their flight at 7 a.m.

On Sunday evening they had their first Mass at 6 p.m. in the Seven Dolores Church, and from their they all went to watch the torch light procession from the top of Rosary Bascilla.

Monday morning there was Mass at the Grotto with the Derry pilgrimage at 8.30 a.m. where everyones petitions that were sent over were placed at the Grotto and everyone in the parish was prayed for.

Tuesday the group went to the city of Saint Pierre where they had a guided tour and Mass at 11a.m. along with a Penetial Service and Anointing of the Sick. This was a lovely ceremony, Fr. McEvoy spoke about how each one of us have our own crosses in life.

 

On Tuesday night Fr. McEvoy got everyone to write down 4 names of loved ones who had died. these names were read out at the Mass and also the names of everyone who had died in the Parishes of Moone and Crookstown during the year.On Wednesday they all went to Bartres where Bernadette was nursed and where her mother got burnt by fire.

 

 

A candle was bought and lit for ever one in the the parish who had asked to be prayed for and also everyone intentions.

On Thursday there was Mass in the Poor Clares also remembering that they are celebrating 800 years.

Friday was to be the last Mass for them in Lourdes, before their return home.
